There was a man, who was ill. He was very ill.
Friends had tried to help him. Some produced tonics, others recommended doctors. Many patted his back and told him to hang in there. Loads of people smiled at him and sent him cards. People with more time and money sent him gifts of food and packets of money.
Nobody tried to save him.
Till one day, a lady spoke to him. Told him about the Gospel, told him about the Lord. Hope returned to the man's eyes, his will to live restored. He was alive again. Physically, and emotionally both, something he had predicted against for the longest time.
For the first time in years: he was alive again. And he was safe. He was happy. He was reassured.
He was with God.
Today, a man who was important to many people has passed away. His name was Berwin.
This man attended my church, and he had cancer. It spread to all parts of his body. He had his good days, he had his bad ones. Nonetheless, knowing God had helped this man in the most incredible way i have ever seen, i'm glad to say i believe he's in a better place.
This man was my mother's classmate.
I cannot even begin to imagine how she must be feeling now.
Uncle Berwin was the epitome of enthusiasm in our Church. Even in his old age and failing health, he had never given up a chance to help.
In his younger days, Uncle Berwin was a logo designer. Guess who designed the Total Defence Logo? That's right. Uncle Berwin was a professional logo designer, and his pieces were winners in many competitions.
He helped in whatever way he could. He made invitations for the church, and designed banners and the like. he tried to help, and we were very lucky to have such a passionate person about God in our church. I am very thankful he was with US. Of all the churches in Singapore, God planted him in ours. And i'm glad to have known him.
He's going to a
better place. Comfort yourself with the
fact. He's already
at a better place.
Sometimes we feel empty.
Sometimes we try our best to love this world, and fail.
Sometimes we wonder why something seems out of place.
We're
homesick.
We were never meant for this place, this joke of a world called Earth.
We were meant to be by the side of God. We were
built for Eternity.
We were fashioned to be with Him.
And now that Uncle Berwin is with God, his story has come to the last page.
It ends with this:
And he
lived died Happily ever after.
Amen.
Verses Of The Day:Psalm 116:15-16 (A Psalm on death)
15 Precious in the sight of the LORD
is the death of his saints.
16 O LORD, truly I am your servant;
I am your servant, the son of your maidservant;
you have freed me from my chains.
Isaiah 57:1-2 (A verse to Encourage those in mourning)
1 The righteous perish,
and no one ponders it in his heart;
devout men are taken away,
and no one understands
that the righteous are taken away
to be spared from evil.
2 Those who walk uprightly
enter into peace;
they find rest as they lie in death.
Promise me That You'll Give
Faith A Fighting Chance...
and When You Get the Choice, To Sit it Out, Or Dance...
I Hope You Dance...
